Roof racks, roof baskets
Been looking around for roof racks and/or baskets. Since I'm going for a kind-of retro look with my Mirage, I'm interested in the baskets... So far I've found this one by Reese:

I think this would look pretty nifty on the Mirage. Another would be to get a regular roof rack and get a bolt-in basket like this one. The advantage of the regular rack is that it's more practical--I can change it from cargo to bikes, for example.
Anyone have tried any specific racks and/or baskets?

I have a YAKIMA that I kept from my MINI, once I have other items attended to (mainly suspension) I intend to install it using the Mitsu OEM racks.
I really like the roof-rack look, especially on hatches. Please keep us posted on your install ;-)
You do know it will put quite the damper on your Cd and thus fuel economy... :-(

I got the oem roof rack from ebay new for 260 I think it really adds to the look of the car. It is super easy to take on/off the car once you have done that first installation and put the rack together. it effects the mpgs a lot on the highway not so much in the city. I dont notice much of a difference at speeds under 50. Even with having my bike on top I was still able to achieve 46 mpg going on about a 40 mile round trip where the speed limit was 55. I did test it on the highway I put it on my car in st george ut and cruised on the interstate to las vegas I usually record about 48 mpg on that trip, with the roof rack on I recorded 39 mpg. I always take it off when I am planning on taking my car on the interstate.Attachment 1161

I was looking for a basket rack today and noticed they didn't come with locks. I came across this video so that you can create your own lock. http://www.instructables.com/id/Roof...asy-Lock-Idea/

What do you think about my basket rack?
I locked it by using a bike lock on the back and on the front roof railing I used two metal hose clamps.I bet that'll keep robbers away.

Looks good! Hey how did you attach those mud flaps? You using stock screws or did you get some different ones?

Thx mane, Yeah I used stock screws. Just make sure to drill the holes in the mudflap at the perfect size.
