Thanks.
Hope you all gets it quickly, it can be very cold where you are and this car is not developed with the mindset of ppl living in cold world
Damn, got my Mirage home yesterday, weather was pretty faer all week long and now it hits up to -38°C at night till early morning, turning the starter on this Mirage without a blockheater just brakes my heart!
I feel your pain. :)
We're on the downhill side of winter for sure. Might see one or two more nights of -20C this week, but after that, hello spring!
Good news about the block heater!
There is a video review saying they didn't have one, and a guy from Alberta bought one and there was no block heater option for him. Maybe Mitsubishi was just a bit delayed offering it? Or maybe your dealer just installed aftermarket heaters (they all are, anyway, I think - one company makes most of them).
Canoehead...
The block heater is a dealer install for sure.. when I bought the car they scheduled pickup for the next day as they had to install it and wash the car.
It (block heater) was on the option sheet though and I didn't have to ask for it.
I just went outside to investigate my dealer installed block heater hoping to be of help here...

Sadly I cannot get a decent pic of the actual installed unit.
Here's what I did find. The heater is in fact threaded into the engine block to the right of alternator and just under the intake manifold. There is a rad hose leaving the block at this location and the heater may be tapped into the housing?
I will call my dealer tomorrow and ask for the relevant part#. Will post what I find out.
I'd also like to know how many watts it is. If they don't know, do you have a kill-a-watt meter you can plug it into?
Thanks.
Ok.. as promised.
The block heater dealer installed on my Mirage is Mitsubishi part# MZ314528.
This should catalogue as the block heater for the 4cyl lancer motor. This is what fits..
I plugged it in with my Kill A Watt and it runs at 375 - 380 watts.
My dealer wants $80.00 Can. For one.
Excellent - thanks for those details.
