Retrofit 2020 Stock Touch Screen Radio in 2014 Mirage

After reading forums on here and pouring over ebay pictures and ads, I have discovered what I believe to be an easy retrofit.

I have a 2014 mirage with 79,000 miles and the stock radio is acting up, buttons on radio don't work properly. My wife and I have 2020 mirages also. Our mirage's both have stock touch screen radios, but hers has a CD player and mine doesn't. So I figured that these radio's will plug up to old connections, but before forking out $100+ for the radio I thought I'd better read on here some more.

What I discovered in a nutshell is this.

This is the 2014/2015/2017 basic radio

The stock touch screen radio with a CD player that comes in 2017 and newer Mirages, is manufactured by Hyundai, and uses different plug-ins in the back of the radio, consequently there is an adapter harness found in cars with these radios but the harness is next to impossible to find online. These radios usually run for $120 on ebay and LKQ.

Then I wondered about the radio that is in my 2020 mirage that doesn't have the CD player.
    Manufacturer Part Number: 8701A753
From all the pictures I have looked at on ebay the plugs are the same as the 2014 radio.

So most of these radios are running $300-550 on ebay, but today I got really lucky and found one on LKQ for $118 shipped, I then ordered the double din radio facia plate on ebay for $27 shipped. I will post results once these parts come in and I confirm that my hunch is right, and that these radios will hook up to the 2014 and 2015 mirages with no extra stuff

8701A753 That is the same head unit that is in my 2019 Outlander Sport. There is a secret programming menu in these that I found the directions for once (but now can't seem to find) which allows you to adjust your rear back up cam, turn on the rear cam while driving etc... and other functions. It's a good unit that although doesn't have Apple Carplay or Android Auto it will recognize any Apple iPhone or iPod if you use the USB connection which gives you control over playlists, repeat, search etc....

If you do come across those instructions please post them here, I would like to play around with my 2020's camera, as for the 2014, I don't at this time have the patience to install a back up camera on it. Maybe in the future I will get to that, but I doubt it. I've never gotten a chance to try an ipod as I'm an android user, but maybe I should buy an ipod.

This can't be the correct rear photo where is the cd drive?

Any idea if these radios have a fan? Ive kinda wondered why my radio doesn't over heat but my on a stand does. Stopping me from using google maps.
please consider checking out my Mirage related youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6c...IEViRFw/videos

It is the correct photo it was just taken with the radio upside down, so the section with the plugs is where the CD is at. I am unsure if they have fans in them I will know more when I pull mine out

Well my new radio is coming in today so I went ahead and pulled old radio using this video

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9Cb...=joshuavaipulu

Here is what the old radio looks like all the way around, was hoping for better pictures of plug-ins but camera wouldn't focus on pins. I will update when UPS comes with touchscreen radio.

Well the new radio came today. Again it is Manufacturer Part Number: 8701A753, I found it on ebay for around $400, but I bought mine from LKQ for $118 shipped. It has the right plugs, it plugged right into my 2014 Mirage DE, no wire splicing or anything like that. I have upgraded the steering wheel to a leather one out of a 2017 Outlander and all the radio controls on the steering wheel work. I now have bluetooth in my 2014 DE, it is built directly into this radio and there is no external microphone. I am awaiting the $30 facia cover for radio to make it look neat. All together it was $150 and is plug and play, adds better sound and bluetooth and now I have the option of a back up camera but I'll probably never add that.

Yes, I have one of these radios in my 2015 ES. I put it in a few months ago. It came out of a 2018 ES hatch and I was lucky enough to find it at my local Pick-and-Pull...for $10! I also grabbed the radio bezel.

It is indeed plug-and-play, but unfortunately I lost the factory Bluetooth voice dialing the '14-'15 ES models came with. Sound quality is much, much better as these are HD radios. Since I lost the voice dialing I went back to the wrecking yard and got the steering wheel controls from the 2018 ES that don't have the voice dialing button...just so I don't try to push it anymore.

This radio is a good upgrade for a 2014-2015 ES and it is a great upgrade for a 2014-2015 DE.

I'm glad to hear that you got a fantastic deal, there is only one pick and pull around me with Mirage's and they all had the base radio. I just bought a 2015 ES at a insurance auction and was going to put the same radio in that as well. Even though you lost the stock bluetooth, do the steering wheel controls still answer the phone on this new radio?

I'll throw this link in here for pictures of a 2015 radio connections that looks just like your 2014 radio connections.
