I'd rather a great tuner come up with a map from scratch anyway, so that's not a killer. I'm sure it will cost more: labor wise, but a great tune is worth every penny.

Aye. I'd have to research tuners who specialize in 3 cylinders (maybe Paul Bhawan of Splitfire....although he is a cheap, shortcut-taking ass) or make my own map.
In Canada at least you'll fail. When you run a standalone, it sometimes ****s with the readiness codes and emissions systems resulting in an automatic fail.
