I wonder how much lighter you can make a Mirage...

I think our hood couldn't get much lighter, but the trunk door could. We should reach out to Seibon about making an OEM-style replacement. I'm afraid our model is too new for them to have interest yet, but given time and desire we could see some serious weight reduction.
This car's a light crap, am sure the bonnet weighs no more than 20 KG. But every little bit helps they say, strip off the car's audio and aircon as well to save weight?

The trunk/boot door is quite a bit heavier than the hood/bonnet, and I think we can start there to address removing weight without sacrificing some comfort.
You can get cars to be VERY, VERY light. It al just depends on how far you want to take things.
I raced a 1987 Toyota Corrolla this past year at my local oval dirt race track. In stock trim, these cars weighed around 2400 pounds. The one I raced tipped the scales at 2060 pounds with me in it (about 200 pounds with racing suit and helmet). Keep in mind too that this car has a full roll cage in it (about 140 pounds). The weight without me in the car and without the roll cage would be 1720 pounds which is about 700 pounds lighter than stock!! So, it all just depends on how far you want to take it.
