Is it posible to install 2017 rear drum upgrade on a 2015?

I already upgraded the front breaks on my 2015 ES to 2017 rotors.
Is it possible/worth it to do it on the rear?

"In addition, bigger diameter brake discs (251 mm) are used in the front and the rear brake drums (203 mm) have increased 23 millimeters. The brake pad/shoe material has also been changed for even better stopping performance."

    Thanks

I think there's a forum post on here of someone putting a 2017 rear torsion beam on a 2015 as he had alignment issues and it worked for him so yeah its definitely possible.

I doubt the improvement will be noticeable as there's very little weight on the rear axle especially when braking.

If you're going to be trying to set a new track record at Road Atlanta, heeeeell yeah it's worth it. But if you're just using this as a commuter tool, my vote is ... NOT worth it. But to each his own. And kudos to you if you go for it.

That's a good question. I don't think anyone has actually tried this yet on the rears.

I assume the backing plate of a 2017 drum brake assembly would bolt right on to a 2015 axle. The question is if the brake line and parking brake cable would work without modifications.

Here are some pictures. Note that these aren't from the same side of the car...

I'm pretty sure the brake line would be fine. The thread on the fitting is the same between 15-17. Good call on comparing park brake cables. I'm positive the axle itself is the same between years minus backing plates.

The axle on the 2015 is made out of plastic baggies. No wonder they revised it for the 2017 and newer models...

I agree the cost vs adding breaking power might not add up for this upgrade.
