    Stolen cars found

I just found a website (that might be) full of stolen cars for sale! Will post more shortly! No surprise, it’s in Nigeria
Edit: I'm still sure a lot of the vehicles I saw were stolen but they didn't show vins on those ones. 2021+ Toyota Highlanders with Ontario plates and some other random Toyota's and Mercedes with California and even Minnesota plates. But I also found a 2017 Hyundai pos that actually showed the vin, I googled it and it came up as being a salvage car sold at Copart in the US for $3000usd a while back and now it's in Africa being sold for the equivalent of $8000usd. So I guess it's possible some of the vehicles I spotted weren't stolen and were just auctioned off as damaged/salvage then sent overseas where laws are likely more lax.

I tried looking up some of the license plate #'s to see if they came up as stolen. You used to be able to do that in Canada but they blocked that service. I used the plate lookup search a few times to see if it worked years ago by looking up stolen vehicle posts on facecrack or kijiji that included the plate number and sure enough there'd be a popup saying contact the police. One of the vin searches I used came up with a notice saying the service is no longer available, not sure what that meant? Maybe a few came up as stolen, they traced my ip address and now I'm on a watch list lol

Many expensive cars ,are stolen in Toronto area especially the past few years. I heard many are then shipped out of the port of montreal, then shipped to Africa mostly. Also heard they find cars in Africa with Ontario plates on them. Robbers never bothered to remove the stolen plates cause there's so much impunity with getting a stolen car like that back. What a bad joke.

I think there is something like a 300 percent increase in car jackings in the Greater Toronto Area the past few years.

Even Mitch Marner of the Maple Leafs was carjacked at gunpoint last year.

Greater Toronto Area is a relative candy store full of expensive cars on the road. Way more luxury cars everywhere compared to other cities I have driven through. Montreal has its Ferrari dealer too yes, but Toronto is like every third car is a Tesla or BMW 3 series. Once a few years back I was stuck in traffic on the Highway 401 and some guy next to me-- also crawling in snarled traffic... was chain smoking and shifting gears in his newer red Lotus.

Lucky for me I'm in the country, and nobody will steal my Mitsubishi Mirage, and many thieves may be confused with the clutch lol. Every third car is a Dodge Ram 1500

    Oh dude.. it's bad bad..

Like I don't know what they are going to do about it.

At least I don't have to worry about someone stealing my base model mirage haha, another thing these cars are good for.

The car is insured obviously, but I would lose MY car and my belongings in it. Would piss me off more than anything really.

I heard all cars going to come with immobilizers from factory now?

I edited first post. I jumped the gun and don't have any actual proof that any are stolen.
What do you think of these ones:
This 2021 Highlander shows just over 2000miles on it. Looks like if fell right off the truck on the way to the dealer. Still has the plastic on the wheels and steering column.

This one has a dealer(ad) plate on the front from a place in Texas(driveawayautos.com). I wonder if they're missing a highlander?

2021 Tacoma with a Minnesota front plate

This one has Ontario plates front and back.

And another 2021 that looks like it fell off the truck.

    Another Highlander with massachusetts plates

PS thieves dgaf if your car has manual locks....All these cars(sold in North America at least) have an imobilizer that's a pita to get into. Unless you clone a key you're gonna have a hard time stealing one. I can program keys for some vehicles without having a working key but not these things.

I know from an inside source that more than one woman in Ontario was sexually assaulted as a direct result of being able to find the owner and more importantly, the address of a plate by paying a fee to the MTO. The loophole was also used to find out where the owners of expensive vehicles using long term parking at the airport lived. When the plate loophole was closed apparently the VIN loophole was still left open. Rinse and repeat for finding owners/addresses. Granted, this was awhile ago and I haven't spoken to that source for a long time, for all I know all the loopholes are still open to certain parties.

You own the plates in Ontario and keep them when you sell or trade the car. Any Ontario plated car outside of Ontario is stolen, simple as.

Large number of stolen cars recovered, many in a warehouse a short drive from me.

Owning a Mirage might be the best anti-theft device going. I lose zero sleep at night worrying about my 2 Mirages

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can leave a Mirage running with the doors open in the ghetto and it'd still be there a week later.

I agree! My son had my Mirage for 4 years in LA parking on the street. He left it unlocked every night in case someone wanted to steal something because they'll just smash glass anyway if it's locked (of course he didn't leave anything of value in the car). Zero rummaging in 4 years. Nobody is going to steal and hoon a 78hp car.
