Lower gearbox mount bolt

Hi,

Due to a broken drive shaft my car was taken to the garage, where the mechanic found out that the lower gearbox mount bolt is missing (photo). He temporarily fitted a too long one on four washers.
Can you help me with to establish the part number? It's for a manual 2014.

I’m 97% sure it’s the same bolt for either end of that dog bone mount I can double check later tomorrow.
If so it should be #7 MF911992

Or I could just check right now. Give me 10, I’ll throw my turd on the lift and compare th two. I have a cvt but the mount and brackets look identical between the two. I’ll compare both part numbers to be positive .

So the part number is MF911992, but I can't find it in the UK (or in European countries).
I'm trying to find out what's the bolt's size and so far only got one result from PartSouq website saying it's a 12x60. Can anyone confirm it? Anyone knows what's the thread pitch?

That inner universal joint looks bad. You could try getting an entire complete right side driveshaft as an aftermarket part instead. Costs about 100 quid, but a good deal cheaper than the OEM part.

To identify the missing bolt, you could unscrew the remaining one and simply measure it. Or take it to any car workshop and ask them if they have it. Or you could get it from a wrecker. Just about any and every more or less well sorted workshop should have at least one laying around. It is certainly an everyday item, nothing exotic, no need to order an original part.


I probably have a few M12x60 bolts in my assorted nuts and bolts box. Since we are in metric teritory, and since it is from an automotive product, I assume it is most probably a 1.25 mm thread pitch. Possible could also be 1.75 and 1.5 pitch, but that would be most unusual. What you do need to look at, is the strength number stamped on the screw head! Probably it is 8.8 Do not settle for one with a lower rating. When installing, just to be safe you could secure it from loosening with a dab of synthetic resin (window-) paint on the thread. Don't over tighten it. There are special products for that, but ordinary paint is good enough.

With that bolt missing, the engine will move around a lot and easily cause more and expensive damage.
How did the inner joint become pulled apart, and that bolt become missing? There is bound to be some interesting story behind that.
