They are a bit wider than the normal tires. This means that they would grip better. However, this also means less fuel efficiency. MPGs might slightly drop.
They're a low resistance tire . Seems like they would make the car handle corners better with more tire to meet the road . Anyone want to enlist and give them a go ?
A low resistance 165-65-14 will have better MPG than a low resistance 175-65-14.
I think the contact surface will be too wide for our 5.5 inch wide wheels. 175 might look better on a 14x6 wheel.
The dealer put on Federal Himalaya's in this size (175/65/14) for my (included in the purchase price) winter tires. I've just switched today to my Dunlop 165/65/14s, so I'll see if there is a difference. FWIW, I didn't find the rubber looked weird on the rims.

Do you have a picture of the 175/65-14 tires mounted on the car? Seems like they would be a bit nicer for ground clearance. I am a fan of skinny for snow - I went from 190 to 185 on my car for winter tires.
