I'd stick to what's in the owner manual or stamped on the oil cap . 0w-20 . A 5w-20 synthetic is close . Give Mitsubishi a call and get the okay from customer relations . Have them e-mail or fax the approval of a 5w-20 or other weight for warranty . You can get Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20 at $3 > $5 a quart when buying the 4 or 5 quart jug . They have rebates at their site as well . Go here , http://www.pennzoil.com/fuelrewards/ .

Where does it say 0W-20 is only good to 80F?
I never really understand these things a ton because the engine is water cooled, the oil shouldn't ever get much warmer than the coolant...

That doesn't make sense though. 0W is the number that matters when the oil is cold, -20 is the number that matters when the oil is hot.

I understand these ultra light oils are needed to achieve certain emissions & mpg goals thats all. I also believe you could run straight 50 w in the mirage and you or the car wouldn't know the difference especially in the summer time.
SHELL full synthetic 5w-20 or 5w-30 are very good oils as well . Can get it at $3 > 4 a quart . Here are used oil analysises ( U.O.A.s ) for the '08 Yaris sedan we had . The Shell synthetic 5w-20 or 5w-30 should be good up to a 7,500 mile interval . May need to Zoom in for better look .

Just added the used oil analysises above . The PENNZOIL is from the same producer as SHELL , a.k.a. S.O.P.U.S..
