I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case ... the 1.2L 3-cyl has to work harder to keep up with larger engines!

    I don't follow the logic ^

The only time the engine is working harder than others is when accelerating or keeping up freeway speeds. On those occasions, the car is moving and has enough airflow for the fan to operate.

Now when the car is stationary, a few things come to play: if the ac is on, then the fan would come on more.

If the ac is off, I assume the fan would just turn on to keep the temp at optimal. At idle, I doubt the 3cyl is working harder than any other engine as there is no load. Only thing, I believe, the engine is powering would be the alternator.

At most mine is intermittent in west texas heat...
Stays on for about three seonds with ac set to 72 auto and then cuts off for about three seconds.
Ac off it barely cuts on at all. I would suggest that if yours is running a lot check your thermostat, hosing, check rad for leaks and ensure that your fan wiring isn'ttouching something somewhere. If all else fails take it to the shop cuz the way you describe it something is wrong or you are driving that gas pedal like you are in a nova.
