The only way you'd see the difference is if drainback valve is bad and you get dry starts, and if it filters better by look of the oil. BTOG guys hack used filters to look for failures you can do it too.

Bigger filter helps with flow, so at cold starts bypass valve doesn't open and lets all bad oil by. This more of the issue for places with cold winter. BTW size not necessarily translates into more media, and more media doesn't mean better flow if media more restrictive.

Just changed the oil in Onyx at 4600 miles. I'm using a Hastings LF486 which is the same as the Baldwin B1432. This is the long version of the Baldwin 1402 (1/2" longer is all). Fits fine but the top of the filter is pretty close to the radiator hose. Oil light never comes on now I noticed even in the morning. Nice to have a filter with a functional anti-drainback device on it as opposed to the OEM filter

Luber-finer part number is PH2867. Can't find flow specs on it, though. Also, a Honda or Subaru filter will fit, if you're into that.

    What about ECOGARD X4610?

    It has a anti-drainback

    $5.68 shipped on eBay

    $6.94 shipped on Amazon

Anyone have any experience with this brand of filter? Will it suffice for 7500 miles with full synthetic oil?

It's a pretty new corporation that is making filters in China. I'm not saying they're bad but why take the risk when there are established manufacturers with 50+ year track records like Wix, Baldwin, Hastings or Champ.

Wix is good stuff. It's what I use. Well actually, I use the NAPA Gold, which is the exact same filter!

I use honda oem filters. It fit well, no leaks, i have the cup wrench, cheap, and its available everywhere. Oh, i love the oil filter position on the engine. It features the most advance location for filters removal. It will dripp all over your engine so it will give you very "nice" black gloss slippery finish,...

I've changed oil thousands of times and believe me, the location of the filter on the Mirage is fine.

I agree, the fact it has a catch to allow oil to drain away from the engine is nice. It's in a good location, easy to access. I'm using the long version of the filter so it's even easier to get to.
