01-7700 - what brand/model did you buy? Might be helpful to other owners.

PS: moved your post to this existing discussion about hitches/towing. Hopefully we'll get some replies from people who have done a little towing by now.

I got the Curt Model - like the one in the first post. Thanks! Sorry about posting in the wrong place.

Draw-Tite hitch part number 24916 and Allen bike rack model 522RR. No installation problems and the combination works fine. Safe clearance between bike and car. The bike length (74-inches) exceeds car width (65.6-inches) by 8.4-inches so the "wide load" overhang is not as bad as it looks in the 3rd photo.

I found this thread useful when looking for a bike rack set up so I figured I would share my experience. I bought the curt trailer hitch which was easy to install a long with the kuat sherpa bike rack. It works great and has very minimal movement while driving.Attachment 4556Name: Bike Rack.jpg

Nice! I also have the curt hitch, its like a rear brace, I didn't notice any handling change but its nice to have the capability to carry large objects outside the car.

My hitch is installed, the trailer fab is finished, now to wire the LED lights. I bought these lights http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008L617D4, and a 4 pin plug, then I saw the CURT T-Connector #56223 http://www.curtmfg.com/part/56223 for $76. I haven't looked into whether a 4 pin plug can be fully installed on the Mirage without a converter, but if only the running lights and brakes can be wired that would be ok. Anyone have experience cutting a 4 pin plug into the Mirage lighting harness? Advice? Thanks.

I plan to install a hitch receiver for another purpose, i.e., for the Bully hitch step to serve as a bumper guard.

with the added weight of the hitch receiver, will it hurt my fuel economy? and by how much?

I noticed no difference in mpg with the hitch. The snow tires have done the most damage to mpg so far. I recommend the big rubber bully bumper, it causes less damage if you did hit someone or they hit you.
