How does it affect gas mileage?
You may have voided the warranty on the engine components by running a weight that is heavier than recommended.
No problem with gas mileage so far - no noticable difference between 0w-20, 5w-30, and 10w-30.
The manual states "If SAE 0W-20 is not available, the ILSAC certification oil of other viscosity grades can be temporarily used."
My 10w-30 is ILSAC certified, and this grade is recommended for the same engine in Japan. Up to 20w-50 is recommended in the Netherlands!
Braver than me. Highest I would feel safe trying is the 5w-30. With that said, I'm sticking with the 0w-20..and I live in sweltering heat FL!

I'm the oil guinea pig
10W-30 isn't that much different than 5W-30 though. Less viscosity modifiers, so the 10w would be stouter than the 5w.
Cookiemonster is correct 0w20 is only to get optimum results on test, if you like in a warm climate 5w30,10w30,
Ohh man, another thing for me to research and experiment on..
lol, OK cookiemonster, because of you I will be looking into seeing if I will move up to a higher viscosity (do you live in a hot climate?). Thanks for the heads up!
Are most people here sticking with the factory recommended 0w-20, or is most everyone going up to a higher viscosity??
