Would you suggest a CVT Jatco7 car in 2021?

    Hello Here,
i came to this thread after a lot of research. I am writing from Europe, and I am evaluating to purchase in this year a new Suzuki Ignis....so here comes the list questions: this Suzuki has a 7 steps CVT which might exactly be the CVT7 from Jatco.
Suzuki here offers extension of warranty till 6 years and in the current service Manual ther eis no mention of CVT oil change (only regular check during service interval of the fluid level).

    1) Ho much reliable is this CVT transmission driving a car below 90hp and in a city with a lot of ramps (Parking ramps, Hills etc...)
    2) A bit jeopardized situation: how do we cope with the ide aof FLuid replacement without breaking the warranty?? it seems that some people suggest to change the fluid, and some other suggest not to touching until some signals have been sent by the transmission (sounds, slow shift, slippery sounds of the belt, no linear progression etc...)??
    3) Can this trasmission last 150/200.000 km??

Thank a lot for any contribution and happy new year!

Would you suggest a CVT Jatco7 car in 2021?

    Hello,
I have found really a LETERATURE about the JAtco 7 CVT based in this forum

Here my simple question: i am going to buy a new car this year and the model are the following:

-> New Toyota Yaris 2020 CVT (Oil only, European version)
-> Old Yaris HYBRID (European Version)
    -> Suzuki Ignis (With Jatco7)

Consider that in europe the mileage is lower than Canada/US (me personally I do 15000 Km per year...around 11.000 Miles). WOuld you suggest in terms of reliability the Suzuki with the Jatco Transmission or better to going on Toyota CVT?

    Thanks for any answer

P.S. Be aware that in Suzuki Maintenance there is no mention of any fluid change for the trasnmission.

I don't think anyone from North America is going to be able to answer your question from the perspective of owning any of these cars.

The cars you listed above don't exist here. You probably already know this, but anything we say would be purely speculation.

One of the appeals of the Mirage in the States is the 5-year/60,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, 10-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty, & 5-year/unlimited mile roadside assistance. If someone took out a 60-month loan for their new Mirage, you are somewhat assured any major repairs are covered. If you are making payments, there's some comfort in knowing that.

The recently discontinued Yaris had an 6-speed automatic transmission here, & I would pick that over a CVT any day. I only own/drive manuals myself, however.

The Prius c has a CVT. Even though it's also discontinued here, it's has an excellent reliability reputation. Some rated it the best reliability of any vehicle in the States. Thus, I assume its CVT is very dependable.

Thank you to share...I know market is very different but I like to collect opinions when I see components which are horizontally shared acros markets (The case of Jatco 7).
The Prius eCVT is essentially in small version similar into the new and old yaris...but I never driven such types of car so I can only imagine the experience of driving....regarding Yaris I am scared about the consumes our if the city...for the rest it might be better (A part the shape of Ignis that for.me.is a peace of design)

If monies no objection i'd go with the Toyota all day everyday. My friend drives a over 100,000 miles Prius C with no issue other than being slow and boring as hell to drive.

Can I suggest you not ask the same question in a multiple threads about a car that nobody here owns. Threads around here are off topic enough as it is already. Go read some threads about Jatco transmissions and the failures on this forum. It's easier than asking questions that have already been answered numerous times.

With that said, I have a few questions.

Can anyone suggest a decent, reasonably priced water softener?
How long would it take a package to get from Dehli to Canada through regular post?

That depends on how much you are willing to pay.

l work at Kinetico, l can say that our products are top quality. As for the second question l'm not sure, go to https://www.kinetico.ca/ and fill out the contact form with what type of softener you want and what area you live in. Be sure to tell them you're from Canada and they should be able to direct your question to our specialists there.

    Hope this Helps!

Now you made Fummins look stupid - asking about water softeners in a thread started by this guy.

Personally, it brought back memories of Dirk joining the forum & being obsessed with CVT failures. Yet, we're all fond of Dirk!

There's the 414,000 mile Mirage that made the news recently. It makes no mention of CVT issues.

More frequent CVT maintenance would be a bit of a turn off for me, but replacing a clutch for a manual is no treat either.

So what's preventing a Mirage from being a possible new car for you?
