Ha! That's funny. And mildly annoying.

Then I suppose it won't like ****take mushrooms either.

Cani, any report on shifting quality after the switch? I am repeatedly not impressed with the gearbox on this car. It is one of the few glaring weakpoints.

I found the two manuals I drove to be just fine. Decent shift feel, super light clutch. Far nicer than my current '07 Civic, and of course my Metro/Firefly.

What don't you like about it?

I feel as though the transmission on my mirage feels very clunky and notchy. Compared to a Mazda or Subaru transmission it seems like the synchros are not as well done.

Mine hasn't liked shifting smoothly from 1st to 2nd since I got it and has a noisy 3rd gear, and the fluid change didn't really help it much. But then again, I used 75w85 instead of 75w80, since I was send the wrong stuff. I'll be switching back to the proper viscosity soon.

Edit: The weather cleared up so I was able to change the gear oil. The Redline 75w85 was blueish in color, but the Redline MTL 75w80 had that familiar red color. Don't think it makes a difference, just thought it was interesting. Haven't driven it yet, but I'll note any differences I feel, if any.

I find the shift feel appalling honestly... Its grain truck wide and has no satisfying feeling of actually being in the gear you are placing it in... I don't know... it's just not what I like. I suppose a good short shifter would help some. Hopefully someone comes up with one soon.

Any update on shifter feel (especially in the cold weather) after the oil change? Are you planning on switching to 75W80, or did you already do that?

After getting familiar with it, mine falls right into each gear and has a nice positive feel. Trans was always quiet.
I have some Redline 75w80 MTL, but I hesitate to put it in there and risk changing the shifting characteristics.
