Here is what I have found in the owner's manual.

If new wheels with new tire inflation pressure sensors are installed, their ID codes must be programmed into the tire pressure monitoring system. Have tire and wheel replacement performed by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer to avoid the risk of damaging the tire inflation pressure sensors. If the wheel replacement is not done by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer, it is not covered by your warranty.
When a properly registered set of TPMS sensors are swapped seasonally, I don't think there is any action needed - just change them out.

I could be wrong on this. Hopefully, some member here who has done this can share their experience.

Are you responding to me, Egg?

If so, you might be misunderstanding my question. But you may have answered it anyway.

Let's say I have the OEM set of alloys with OEM TPMS sensors and Dunlops that I run three seasons of the year. And I also have another set of OEM steelies, with a different set of OEM TPMS sensors and Pirelli snow tires that I run in winter only.

Will the system recognize both sets, or will the system need to be reprogrammed every time the two different sets of wheels are swapped? On some vehicles, as long as the sensors are correct for that vehicle you are good.

But it sounds like this system requires that individual sensors be programmed in sets of four (even though these sensors are not coded to a particular corner of the car)?

Sorry, Cobrajet. I had Heffu's post in mind when I searched the owner's manual for a quote!

For some reason, I was looking into this for another car of ours and I seem to recall that (at least that car) would/could register 8 TPMS sensors, to allow for easy, painless swapping.

I also recall that there was a specific sequence to be followed in registering each sensor, one at a time, so the TPMS would recognize which sensor was associated with which wheel position.

Which made me ponder - how would tire rotations affect this?

Maybe namco could chime in. I recall he mentioned he had some training in TPMS. Also, if I have time I'll try calling either a tire center or better yet my dealership.

Basically, I'm not (yet) sure how the Mirage TPMS would handle this.

I hope that answers your question.

Interesting. I rotate my tires all the time, albeit with the OEM set of alloys. I have not put the snow tires and snow wheels into the mix yet. I have not had any TPMS lights when rotating the tires, so I don't think the sensors are position-specific?

I will try and remember checking my manual.
I recall it had something different about the sensors.

    Edit:
I recalled i got a PDF-version from the manual too.

    Quick translation:
You are able to reset you TPMS setting if you change the tire pressure.
    AND
If you have a second set of tire pressure sensor ID's registered you are able to change the setting which set is in use.
