painting the inside of the headlights is kinda tricky.. taking it out of the car itself was easy and took like ten minutes but separating the outer cover from the rest of it to expose the chromed plastic took some effort..

my friend and I preheated an oven to like 200 degrees or 250 (I don't really remember but either will work) once that was heated up pop in the head light assembly in for like 4 minute (make sure you take out the light bulbs and all the screws that hold it together) once time is up have a small flat head screw driver and a puddy knife ready cuz you'll have to use those to pry and separate the two pieces (the urethane that seals the inside from water makes this the hardest part of the whole process) and work quickly cuz the urethane will only be pliable for a lil while..

once separated just mask off and paint, let dry and then put new sealant and assemble

bkessinger - thanks for posting this!

I copied your instructions from your garage page and put up a few pics to show before/after.

    Added to the modifications/customizations list.

Sort of reminds me of the first gen Honda Fit and its body color matched headlights. I would like yo see it colored white for a white Mirage. Looks great btw!

Looks good, makes the front end a lot more aggressive. Nice job!

I want to see this in white, and I want to see the black with the evo plasti dipped front on a cloud white mirage! Mine stays stock until a spare set of headlights becomes cheap

how about the light from the headlamp? Is it just as bright? black is well known as absorbing heat and light.

You don't paint any of the reflector housing, just the surrounding bits. It shouldn't affect light output at all.

That does look nice! I would like to see it body colored as well. But I do question if you would get moisture in the housing more easily now.....

Condensation should never be a problem. 3dplane posted a picture showing there is actually vents in the headlight housings to vent moisture. You just have to turn on your lights to heat things up.
