    2013 prius vs mirage

i was just checking out the EPA site and based on the average of 30 cars, the average mileage for a 2013 prius (no models or trims specified) is 46.9, which is really not all that much higher than the average here in the fuel economy log (about 42 MPG). 5 more mpg with the prius, and this a newer prius. the mirage can hang!

forum average beats early 2000's prius.

The purchase price of a Prius is (in the NL) 3 times higher than a Mirage. Simple math (I cannot perform complex math):
    Price difference: 27.575 (prius) - 8.990 (mirage) = 18.585 euro.
    Gas price = 1.55 per liter which means 18.585/1.55 = 11.990 liters
    Mirage drives averaging 1 liter for 20 km = 11.990 liters x 20 km = 239.800 km
Instead of buying the prius with no gas, you can get a Mirage with enough gas for 239.800 km drive! Would you still even consider buying a prius? Robbing your own money?

heh heh. i wonder if taxi drivers will start buying the G4 when it makes its way to north america. normally, the prius and the camry hybrid are the cars of choice around here.

btw, UBER is banned in my city :/

UBER POP is illegal in NL as well, normal UBER is okay because they are licensed taxi drivers.

The mpg in the mirages vs Prius will fluctuate on who is the winner, which most if the time it will be the Prius, but the big picture is the cost of ownership + fuel economy. The mirage has the lowest cost of ownership out of all US new cars. If you look for low cost cost of ownership overall a Metro 1.0 is extremely hard to beat, the mirage will take this market eventually when metros become rare and mirages are old.

Metro (or suzuki Swift) is not a super cheap car. I read someone in the forum that had various version of the car said that its fuel consumption around 10% higher than Mirage. Plus i think it's a slightly heavier car which means a higher tax in NL.

I'm talking about the Japanese made early 1990s metros, they are super light, even lighter than the mirage and I have seen a few of them over 60mpg.

I've considered Uber as it is not banned here in Chicago. Do you know if the Mirage hatchback is too small to participate?

    El Kapitan,

Thanks for that little bit of information about Mirage over a Prius. As much as I love technology, I just love the 'simplicity' of the of the Mirage. Its so freaking cheap for the MPGs in comparison to the Prius. However, they are two very different animals and have less in common than their average MPGs.
