Good to hear no damage occurred. What has been your experience using your heater?

It's been quite nice. After 90ish minutes plugged in, even on the coldest Central Ohio mornings (which admittedly haven't been that cold this year), the water temp is around 50-60F per my Scangauge. At 400 watts, and ~$.06 per kwh, I figure it's under a nickel per day. I have a 5 mile commute in the suburbs, and still managed to get decent MPG this winter. Not to mention how quickly the heater blows warm, and I'm hopefully extending the life of the engine by pre-warming it. As inexpensive as the heater is, and as easy as the install is (only slight arm contortion-ism required) , it's pretty much a no-brainer if you have somewhere to plug in.

Haha, I've done that before. Mine resulted in me having to replace the plug end though as it was dragging on the ground long enough. I ended up putting a marine charging port on the car instead. Its much quicker and nicer to plug in with IMO.

Mine is plugged directly into the wall socket and I leave the hood open, which eliminates the possibility of me driving away with the plug connected (old timer's disease). My car sits in the garage when not in use and today I'll refill and get an idea of the mpg increase. I was going to wait but I think the gas price will jump at Wal Mart where I intend to refill.

I made some research and maybe found a couple of cartridge heaters, the ultimate question are do they fit? I don't know how long or thick they are.. But they are all for 220 volt, so for Europe..

This one fits a Toyota Avensis 1,8 but fit other cars to. Model name. Defa 412880,

    Guide to mount it. http://www.toyotaextreme.dk/projvis.asp?id=52
    (Translateted to english https://translate.google.com/transla...D52&edit-text= )

I found it on a Norwegian page new for 822 Norwegian Kroner (about 90 US dollar) http://www.mekonomen.no/bil/reserved...a27-DA412880no

After some more research i found a Swedish site, that has the most eqquipment i have seen in that direction, including the cheapest round cartridge heater in my search.

The most annoying thing is they don't ship outside of Sweden or Norway right know

I think these looks a bit like the one from Kat's in UShttps://www.etrailer.com/Vehicle-Hea...s/KH11812.html..

Could someone maybe measure the Kat 11812? How big it is?

I found a page where some heaters can be bought (not one that would fit, but some cords etc.)
Maybe this link can be useful in the future when i the right cartridge heater

Augh! That's what it's called! Thank you! I Googled for the longest time on that, but the best I could come up with was variations of "male plug port weather resistant". Never found what I was looking for. Yeah, I'm gonna have to do that. Maybe a little lower on the bumper though.

Marinco is the maker of that specific plug. I think I nabbed mine off ebay for about $20 a while back.

Amazon wins on price - and shipping too, I imagine.
