Here is a video comparing the difference some 4mm roofing tar based material i stuck to the inside of the doors and roof and all over the inside of the mirage

The car drives and feels and sounds more queiet and feels more solid. Especially when you close the doors. It sounds less tin-ny. The product is just a huge roll i bought off ebay and i put 2 layers on parts that were very flimsy and hollow sounding but its pretty similar to the peel and seal stuff you can find at home depot or lowes. And of course you can use something more premium like dynamat or secondskin. Just that i feel that will be overkill as the loudest thing i hear now is wind noise which is still pretty loud because the glass in our mirage is so thin.
The interior comes out easy and so does the carpet and headliner. Should take about an hour to remove the entire interior.

Just curious, when using the "tar" like material, has anyone had an issue with off gassing? IE: when the car gets hot from sitting in the sun all day, does it smell like tar or asphalt inside? I would hate to do this, and find out I couldn't stand the smell afterwards. Is the dynamat also a tar type material?

I used some stuff called Protecto Wrap that seems to be tar based. There was no smell, even from the beginning, and I used a lot of it.

    Pics in my garage.

I added some denim insulation to the door panels. Initial impressions are impressive. I just might do the floor pan. ...maybe.

    Bitumen mats don't stink.

Used denim on the complete floorplan, entire trunk, and sides. I covered the areas at risk of moisture with plastic. It was a little thick, so some trim pieces needed coaxing lol. I took it out on interstate and the sound of our aggregate highway was hugely reduced. I should have done this sooner.

Hi Alex, what was your reasoning for using denim instead of the tar/adhesive stuff that others mention on the thread. Also, could you share resources on where to purchase the denim and plastic that you used?

Not to hijack from op, however,

    https://www.amazon.com/Denim-Insulat...s%2C187&sr=8-3

This looks pretty doable from a budget perspective....

EDIT: As per many reviews, it should be available @ Home Depot.
