Probably used some ITBs from a motorcycle. I'd look around Triumph motorcycle forums for intel.
I could imagine cams, fuel pump and injector, free flowing exhaust and tune would probably open up a few RPMs and give the engine some character.

Hard to squeeze any number from an NA build.
All you usually get from an NA build are good aesthetics and sounds. I'd be happy to get 15-20 to the wheels with the setup I mentioned.
EDIT:
Not sure if the front holes would help him though... I would think a smooth closed out front end would be better; but that's just me.
