    Best oil for 3A92/3A90

I've been doing a lot of research on a oil forum BITOG.com and I've come to the conclusion that just about every synthetic 0w20 is pretty good for our cars. If your looking to save money look for the one that is the best price. Mobil 1 is highly rated as a great oil and very cheap! If your a extremest such as me and want to know what is the best, well your options are Royal Purple, AMSoil, Eneos Sustina, Motul.

I personally think Eneos is a great oil, but locally it is $36 with tax for 4 quarts. For me that puts it at $9 a quart which is too close to their top tier oil sustina. I'll break down the price chart using walmart for basic brands and cheapest online prices for the exotic hyped up oils.
    (these prices are before tax)

All of these oils are 0w20

$4.40 Quaker State Ultimate Durability synthetic 5qts $22 walmart
$4.80 Mobil 1 synthetic advanced mpg technology 5qts $24 walmart
$4.60 Valvoline SynPower Full Synthetic 5qts $23 walmart
$5.00 Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic 5qts $25.17 walmart (rated high on BITOG)
$5.34 Castrol Edge Syntec Full Synthetic 5qts $26.88 walmart
    $5.74 Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5qts $28.68 walmart
$6.70 Toyota Full synthetic (made by eneos) $83 shipped ebay 12 qts
$7.04 Penzoil Ultra Platinum (rated very high on BITOG.com) $105.60 amazon 15 qts
$7.09 Eneos full synthetic $28.35 4qts at napa
    $7.56 Royal Purple 5qts $37.80 walmart

    These are the exotic oils

$10 Eneos full synthetic 5qts $40 amazon shipped
    $13.60 Eneos Sustina 6qts $82 shipped http://www.sparktecmotorsports.com/eneos-3220-302.html
    $13.14/$11.77 redline 1qt $13.14/12qts $141.19 amazon shipped
    $15 AMSOIL 6 qts @$90 shipped ebay

$10.63 prt liter liqui moly 4L $42.50 ebay shipped
Motul only sold in 1L bottles (1.05 qts)
    $12.40 per liter 8100 ecolite 5L $62 ebay shipped

I'll be trying the most expensive oil I have listed on here after reading about it and watching Eneo's sales pitch. We will see how clean the oil looks after 7K vs the Castrol Edge Synthetic after 5k (that's getting a black stone oil analysis)

Like I mentioned before, the Mirage is a affordable car for people on a budget, saving money on oil is a good way to keep the prices low. I justify the most expensive oil 13.60 X 3=40.80+$10 M1-110 filter (amazon $35 or more=free shipping) =50.80 for a oil change. The dealership charges $56.00 for the castrol edge synthetic and a mitsubishi junk filter.

    Hi Guys

Right before we got our Mirage i got a deal on some 0-20 royal purple at our Walmart. I was able to get it for 3 dollars a quart and 15 dollars for the 5 quart container. I bought all they had, 21 quarts worth so i am set for a while. Sometimes they discount their oil if they are trying to make shelve space for something new. thats what i came across. I already knew that the Mirage used 0-20 so i snatched it up

Yup! That is a great deal! you can sometimes scoop up cheap oil from walmart. Royal Purple is very good oil, rated pretty high and at that price you traded salt for gold!

These are easy ways to keep your 3a92/90 happy, I think using a M1-110 with any of these oils will give a long service life for your engine. The M1-110 can be had for 9.38 from amazon when you order 4 ($35 or more total order for free shipping) or $13 from autozone/advance auto parts.

With my ride, I experienced the following:

There were profound fuel economy improvements with Red Line 0W20. This is the thickest 0W20, but has a boat load of moly.
Sustina is the thinnest. There were definitely fuel economy improvements. The performance improvements were quite noticeable.
    Listen to Alex.

A new contender for the supposedly insane among us is going to be Ravenol 0W16. HTHS 2.3. NOACK incredibly low. This oil will protect, will not shear and will run clean. It is all counter intuitive in some respects.

FWIW. Personal choices: Pennzoil Platinum 0W20. Mobil 1 AFE 0W 20. Eneos Sustina 0W20 (extend OCI/enjoy mpg improvements to defray costs).

I plan on using the Ravenol in my vehicle with 315k miles on it and with no oil consumption. Let's then see what Blackstone says.

I have been thinking about using Redline 0w20 for the summer and Sustina for the winter/cooler months. I want to first see where my oil temperature is and get my Blackstone testing done first with sustina and the original dealer castrol edge.

Listen to this brain washing haha

Sustina claims it could provide up to 2% increase in fuel consumption. If I run 7k miles on this oil it will give 140 extra miles per 7k with 2.80 gallon = up to $8.00 in fuel saving using this oil, which could also justify this oil a little more.

Bitog is reticent to embrace thin oils. They are very concerned about engine protection and prefer thick, robust oils.

I, on the other hand, have personal experience using Sustina 0W20 for 60k miles. You can use it for 15k mile intervals.

mav, on ft86club.com forum, has tracked with Sustina 0W20. Analysis shows excellent results there.

As conjecture on the Sustina video states, the trick is to have an oil that is as thin as possible, yet which still provides protection. Eureka.

I have been lucky catching the 5 qt. jugs of M1 AFE on sale for ~20 (19.88 I think) at KMart, so I have stuck with it for 38k so far.... will more than likely just stick with it as it is easy to find.

Hard to find, but I've been using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w20.

I just grab Mobil 1 on sale at $4.40 a quart. 3 changes with 10 quarts. Nice quality synthetic oil, extended life filter. About $25 for the oil changes. I'll do them myself and carry the used oil to my old shop where they burn it in a waste oil heater in winter.

    regards
