    Mirage: Total Storage (Seats Down)

As I am in the process of buying a new car, I have been comparing different aspects to various car models. The following comparative figures might or might not surprise some of the Mirage owners. They certainly surprised me: in terms of practicality, the Mirage beats bigger cars such as the Mazda 2, Yaris, and Juke.

    Honda Jazz: 1,492 liters
    Nissan Juke: 1,189 litres
    Nissan Note: 1,495 litres
    Skoda Yeti: 1,760 litres
    Toyota Yaris: 768 litres
    Mazda 2 : 950 litres
    Kia Soul : 1,367 litres
    Mitsubishi Mirage : 1,330 litres
    KIA Picanto : 870 litres

These figures canīt be correct. The total storage is much smaller in the mirage, its 235-912 liters only. Thatīs comparable to my much smaller Daihatsu Cuore (19 cm narrower and 30 centimeters shorter) which has 157-930 liters. The height of the loading sill of the Space Star is 13 centimeters higher than that of my Daihatsu Cuore (72 centimeters vs. 59 centimeters) and the opening of the tailgate is much smaller.

Some Minicars like the Toyota Aygo or VW up! (and the badge-engineering models) might have even higher loading sills and smaller tailgates, but are also comparable concerning maximum storage (VW up! 951 liters, Hyundai i10 1046 liters). But the Space Star has slightly more room for the rear passenger legs.

Loading big boxes in the Space Star is no fun and I really didnīt buy the car because of its practicality which is much worse than that of my Daihatsu. Concerning practicality no car can compete with the Honda Jazz with magical seats in this class.

Just have a look at the picture:

    my sources on Mirage are:

"Fold the rear seats down and the Micra provides 820 litres of cargo space – compared to the Spark’s 883L, the Yaris’s 768 litres or the positively voluminous 1330 litres within the Mirage."

I think you cannot trust the mfg published data since they're using different way of measuring.

In US cycle (measures all the space up to the sealing)
    Prius C/Honda Fit/Spark/Mirage are rated:
Cargo capacity, all seats in place
    17.1 cu.ft.
    16.6 cu.ft.
    11.4 cu.ft.
    17.2 cu.ft.

Maximum cargo capacity (2nd row down):
    N/A
    52.7 cu.ft.
    31.2 cu.ft.
    47.0 cu.ft.

No doubt Mirage has tons of space for the car this small.

If people could be bothered: I would appreciate illustrations of the practicality offered by Mirage.
