    Question Tire pressure

I have the OEM 15" tires on My space star. I put 2.7 bar in them = 39 psi. The manufacturer recomends 2.2 bar... I can feel that this pressure I run with now is the absolute max pressure I can run with and feel comfortable with, as the car shakes to much from the pavement otherwise. With this tire pressure I am also able to reach the 55 mpg combined fuel economy for my conty . What do you fellow mirage owners think/do/recommend?

    Have a nice day

It depends on tire. I usually run 42/38psi f/r on FWD cars but we have 48/42 on Mirage with 186/60R14 RT-43 General (cheaper Continental brand). Wouldn't go over max posted pressure, which is normally 44 or 51psi depending on construction.

is 40 psi warning on tire? could you post a pic?

in US of A they only post max pressure on tire. The car recommended pressure is posted on car label.

Also which tire model/brand do you have? I am assuming you are after max MPG. On Prius we had good experience with Michelin Energy Saver A/S, MPG went up from 51 to 54MPG. Not sure which LRR tires available in your size (175/55R15?) in your country.

The warning is for when the tire is mounted onto the rim. Simply states that don't go over 40psi to seat the bead. Completely unrelated to normal operation so you can disregard that on go by the max pressure for the tire.

Cleartec the tire is safe up to 51 psi as per the MAX PRESS rating in your first picture. The second warning only applies during the process of mounting the tire to the wheel. This means not to apply more than 40 psi to seat the tire beads. Once the tire is mounted and the beads seated the tire is then safe up to 51 psi

It is rated as "C" on fuel efficiency. I think you can do better when it is time to replace tires; there are choices in B and even A.

Judging by your 55 MPG you must be spending alot of time at relatively low speeds <45MPH, and at that point tire rolling resistance, braking and idling are the culprit. Pumping tires is the easiest way to improve it, but it will do only that much.
