Have you guys brought in your cars for the recall yet? How has it gone?

Got my letter in the mail, but wasn't able to take it in before an hour drive Monday morning. And guess what, the airbag light came on mysteriously for no apparent reason about 45 mins in...

I had brought in my mirage last week for the recall. It took around 2 hours for the repair. After the repair it seems my car runs a bit smoother. I am not sure why.

It probably runs smoother now because they reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for the repairs.

I had my airbag recall serviced 6 months ago. Lately my airbag light has been stuck on so I brought it in last week. I need a new passenger sensor, the guy said it probably costs about $1200 dollars! Luckily I was just under the warranty.

What would guys do if your car needed a new sensor for $1200 and it was out of warranty? I'd be seriously tempted to get a new car. If it was an engine replacement at least you'd know it'll last another 150K. But just for a sensor?

Maybe a small car is not so economical. A larger car is probably just as safe with seatbelts only, vs a small car with airbags.

I'd find a used part from a secondary source like a salvage yard, eBay, etc.

Ummm...do you know how much your automatic climate control display costs? This car has a few very expensive parts. Good thing there are a lot of Mirages in salvage yards...
