I can't really tell from the pic but after sitting and the engine is cold the oil level should not be really any higher than the upper hole. Too much oil will cause aeration and foaming which is very very bad.

ouch! so how high should it be? just exactly at the second hole when the engine is cold? i just had my 5k PMS lanst month and changed to a fully synthetic oil from mitsu. i didnt check it after the PMS, i just checked it today since i was able to clean the engine.

That's also my problem .. bro.. noticed that after my 10K and 15K PMS, the oil level is way past the top mark .. It was halfway between the dipstick marks at 1K & 15K PMS. I feel the difference in the performance or it can be only placebo?

I've seen oil extractors online.. I'm planning to buy one so I could suck out the extra oil.

i tried to open the cover where you put the oil but i dont know if its a good idea to stick a long straw in there hahaha. Next time i'll make sure to tell my SA not to put much oil. if theres an excess they must give it to me! but still worrying on how to remove some oil!

IMHO the way mfg put marks on dipstick are with safety in mind you have to significantly overfill/ underfill to cause any problems. Prius owners swear that you get better MPG by filling it half way but I have never observed it. If there are any benefits they are minimal and within error margins.

Yes a piece of flex tubing, syringer or turkey baster (just don't look it up on urban dictionary if you don't know what it is) is the easiest way to remove excess. Personally I would not bother if it is just a tiny bit.
