you need 6.5" coax. 2/3/4-way is not as important, as long as it has good frequency range, efficiency and accuracy.

I think the stock Mirage speakers are too bass-heavy, so I installed 3-way Pioneer speakers on the front doors...The enhanced high end is great!

and from your suggestions TS-A1685/s & TS A1605 for the stock head unit?
A1605C are better speakers, but they will require to cut door for twitters, if you wanna go that route. 1685 are coax and will require spacers in front doors, and that what we used for front/rear. Lacegirl used 1675 which are shallow, and I think those didn't require spacers. So 1675 front/rear would probably be cheaper and easier?

I had these in my Aspire, but now Walmart sells them for less than what I previously paid. http://www.walmart.com/ip/29883800?w...787858&veh=sem

They should be. With 1685 I had used 2 layers of 1/4" plywood to make the adapters in front doors.

1685 mounting dept is 2 1/8" and 1675 are 1 3/4", so they should mount w/o adapters. Not sure if triangular holes would need to be cut; I think lacegirl mentioned they didn't have to.

When comparing to 1685, 1675 are slightly lower efficiency 90 vs 91, and power 300/50w vs 350/60w, but I doubt OEM unit is capable of more than 14-18w output, and even if you get an amp later, the output difference is 1.8dB only, not that much.

Beware that OEM speakers are 1-way and have higher efficiency (~93) so Pioneers would require slightly higher set volume to sound equally loud. Also they do not distort, so your ears will not perceive louder output as overwhelming good luck

1605c tweeters can be installed in dash or on A-pilars, they come with rear plastic cups for that. You would need to run wire for them. I had used them in car which already had compound speakers and had to make support braIckets. BTW Pioneer had updated their TSA line, new numbers are 1606, 1676 and 1686.
