REGEN braking (via alternator control programming)

is it standard on US models, or it only on AS&G equipped cars?

According to 2010 Outlander press release it is standard on Outlander:

    Regen:
Regenerative braking is done through the alternator: when you decelerate in gear, charging current increases, which puts more of a drag on the drivetrain and converts kinetic energy into energy for the battery. So it also requires slightly less braking with the pedal. I assume your car also has different charging profile to take advantage of this "extra" charging (possibly provides less current when accelerating/cruising, depending on voltage of course) than the non-regen Mirages.

    DFCO (deceleration fuel cut off):
cuts off fuel during engine braking, if RPM is >1,200.

From my reading, 12v regen was only ever mentioned for the Euro/Japanese Mirages & Space Stars.

According to press release Thai model has it too:
The Mirage offers three trim levels at easily affordable prices; the E comes with a basic entry-level specification, the M comes with driving enhancements such as AS&G, Hill Start Assist, and regenerative braking, and the G comes with fuller amenities. In addition, the Mirage qualifies for the "eco-car" tax reduction at all trim levels, making it all the more affordable.

I am wondering if the model with regen has the same alternator as one without?

Well, the best way is to snap a picture of our alternator and try to get the part number off of it. Have the AU, PH, and Euro guys do the same and lets compare.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

I did not find any spot, with a number/or something with we really could compare between the models.
    I have the 1,2L 5speed, Euro 2015 model, in the ES trim.Name: 20160130_190910.jpg

Earlier I had found that the ASAS models had a slightly bigger battery and an alternator that was rated at only 10 amps more than the standard model.
