    Question Transmission check and warranty

    Hey Miragers,

I just brought my car to the dealership to have the SRS issue fixed and then had my mechanic carry out the routine oil/tire change. I mentioned that he should take a look at the transmission, since she is still making this weird scratching noise, when I downshift into a lower gear. There is little noise, when I rev-match while shifting, so this is what I've been doing to avoid the issue. However, my mechanic told me that the transmission should still be ok for a vehicle with only 24k miles and recommended getting in touch with Mitsubishi warranty services.

Do you have experience with them?

I have installed an aftermarket cruise control and do now worry that they might argue that my warranty got void with that modification.

    What do you think?

    thx for any advice

Could you remove the Cruise control, so the dealer cant see that is was installed?
I would always aske the dealer before mounting something myself.. , so i dont run in to trouble..

I thought about that, but then remembered that I have soldered a wire to the ignition switch...

No, I don't think so. How could this be related to improper clutch adjustment or better, how can I check if this is related. I am still only a lay person when it comes to technical issues with my car :-)

Here are some threads that can help answer your question.

HOW TO: Adjust clutch engagement point - Mitsubishi Mirage / Space Star

    Clutch adjustment!!! (Solved shifting problems)

5 Speed, Hard to shift into 2nd Gear (solved -- with clutch adjustment)

Also, a Google search for clutch adjustment for more reading:
    Clutch Adjustment

You can experiment to find an adjustment that works best for you.

Some board members report improved transmission performance by changing it's lubricant. Refer to the third thread for a discussion.

Someone mentioned this sounds like belt squeal. I wonder if this is related to the regen braking mentioned in another thread?

    REGEN braking

    I hope this helps.

If clutch does not disengage cometely you may experience engagement issues.

Keep in mind that clutch heats up, so if there is no issue when it is cold it might still be when it warms up when driving. On other hand if engagement point is too high and there is not enough pressure clutch may slip under heavy load good luck.

Donut (great name, btw) I just thought of something. What if what you were hearing was belt squeal, not something from your transmission? I'm not there to listen, of course you would know better. However, you could possibly test this by simply quickly revving your motor in neutral, otherwise disconnected from the transmission. If you hear a squeal, it is not likely your transmission. What do you think?

    Let us know.
