AC compressor cycling on/off every 10 seconds or so in cool weather.

Its in the mid 50's today and rainy so I have been using the AC to help defog the cabin. I can hear the AC (and fan) disengaging/reengaging every 10 seconds or so. I believe this is not normal and may indicate an issue with either the compressor or amount of refrigerant. I plan to call the dealer but as I am a second owner I expect some push back on warranty work.

Anyone else experience this or got any ideas?

It's normal. If the compressor didn't cycle on/off every so often, the entire system would ice up and quit working.

Your compressor would cycle less if it were hotter outside, but since you are using it for defog in the 50s it has to cycle more often to keep from icing.

Mine does this all the time here on the wet and cool Oregon Coast. Wouldn't worry about it.
