Very cool. It's great getting dealer tidbits like this.

I suppose it's verboten to tell us the MSRP for the U.S. sedan.

But that model (the base Versa S 5-speed) is a unicorn, which I doubt any U.S. dealer keeps in regular stock.

It appears to me Mitsu is trying to play the value card instead, along the lines of: "We don't have the cheapest base price, but when you add the same features to the competition that we offer as standard, THEN our price is better."

It's a more complicated message and will be a harder sell. The Micra in Canada and the Versa sedan in the U.S. dominate their segments because "cheapest new car" makes for killer marketing.
I agree that it will be a harder sell. Especially since Nissans marketing budget is probably 10 times what Mitsubishi's is and they can really push the cheapest sedan thing. I think that Mitsubishi just needs to come out of the gate with aggressive pricing on all of the models. Since they have been out, there have been rebates on them ranging from $750 - $2000. Just cut the base prices on all of the models by $1250-$1500 bucks from the beginning. Then they still have a bit to play with if they have to. I know I would not have bought my Mirage for the almost $17,000 sticker price. The value is just not there. If they would have priced it at 15000 (I paid about 14,500) and did not have any rebates I would have still bought it because the value is there to justify that price. If they come out more expensive than the Versa, they are going to have a problem and will have to start discounting right away. The Versa is bigger, more powerful, similar gas mileage and has a more well-known name behind it. All of that matters when it comes to getting the price right. Every reviewer said that the Mirage was over-priced in the higher trim levels. Now they have a chance to correct it.

U.S. hatch price comparison / sedan estimate

A hatchback Canada vs. U.S. price comparison may give a better hint of the G4's U.S. price...

Canada MSRP (CAD) U.S. MSRP (USD) U.S. Difference
    2015 Mirage hatch,
    base 5MT
    $12,498 * $12,995 + $497 / + 4%
    2015 Mirage hatch,
    top spec CVT
    $15,998 $15,395 - $603 / - 3.8%
    2017 Mirage G4 sedan,
    base 5MT
    $14,398 $13,851 est.
    - 3.8% est
    2017 Mirage G4 sedan,
    top spec CVT
    $18,198 $17,507 est. - 3.8% est

    * Note: the Canadian base Mirage doesn't have air conditioning. Also, this is the price without the perpetual $2500 manufacturer discount that brings its price down to $9998 to match the base Nissan Micra.

    new photo

A bit of local flavour in a pic that was posted after the main gallery went up:

Mitsubishi Canada sponsors a Toronto based lacrosse team in the N.L.L. So apparently the execs in jerseys, got some players and cheerleaders to come to join them on stage to spice up the sedan unveiling:

So it looks like the sedan may cost more than the hatch in the U.S.. Thats a new one! Usally sedans are cheaper in the U.S.

Here's a quick walkaround video of the sedan on the stand at the Toronto show:

Thanks for that walkaround vid, MetroMPG! Now that was helpful, as is this line of information below.

    2017 Mirage G4 sedan, base 5MT $14,398 $13,851 est. - 3.8% est

Now that is one tasty tidbit of information, MetroMPG. Because if I want a G4, it will only cost me about $300 more dollars than the 2016 Chevy Spark 5-speed. I know, sedans ta hatches, but, we're still waiting for '17 Mirage hatchback prices to come in.

I went to Lewis Chevrolet in Dodge City where they have a 2016 Chevy Spark hatchback selling for $14,635. It is an automatic tranny, so it is disqualified, but, I was able to do a walkaround while my Kia Soul idled nearby. Small! I wanna tell you small, man. But after seeing the car in person but not driving it, I have ta say the 2016 Chevy Spark 5-speed stick selling for only $13,535 is still in the running with me. I want to test drive one and get a feel for it's driving dynamics a bit.

Howdy...A nice machine, certainly, but still no sunroof option from factory. Plus is there a higher level audio system, with subwoofer, available as optional also? Please don't misunderstand: I dig this version of the Mirage as well as the top of the line hatch, so this is NO putdown of the Mirage line in any way. Peace... AladdinSane. ♐

not bad. I like sedans but I think i'd still go with a hatch for this car. looking forward to test driving some 2017s in order to see how the steering feels compared to my 2014.

I wonder... is there a factory sunroof option anywhere in this entry level segment? Versa sedan? Chevy Spark?

I know there's not one available in the Nissan Micra in Canada.
