Good idea to check used car listings.

I just ran a check on a national used car site for Canada. It's an even split:

    243 Mirages available (2014+)
    109 CVT (45%)
    110 Manual (45%)
    24 Other/don't know

I would say your right Daox,
I sell these guys, and it looks like the CVT is the higher seller. More CVT to older demographic. 5 Speed man to people that want the absolute lowest price i.e poor college kids lol. Also have 2 customers in Mirage 5 MT that own Evos that are pushing some good power. They want dailys that get double there gas mileage and are fun.
There is no I in team. But there is a PU in group and you guys stink.....

    16% manuals on cars.com

On Cars.com in the U.S., there are 547 used 2014+ Mirages for sale right now...

87 are listed as manual transmission.

    So, that's 16%.

I can't find the complete numbers for Denmark, automatic vs. cvt / Dsg gear etc..

But i found a list of the most sold cars here.. http://www.bilimp.dk/statistics/index.asp
And the Mirage (Space Star in Europe, due to that a French Fighter Jet is called Mirage there, the car could have the same name..)

The Mirage is placed on number 24 of most sold cars in 2015, where it sold 3140 in Denmark, and i think 80% or more of them are the 5MT, in 2014 there were sold 1709 cars..
    24 MITSUBISHI SPACE STAR 3.140 1.709

I don't wanna list up the complete list of cars, because its long.. But the three most sold cars in Denmark in 2015 + 2014 are those..
    1 VOLKSWAGEN UP! 7.955 10.106
    2 PEUGEOT 208 7.946 5.702
    3 TOYOTA AYGO 5.700 5.336

My family never owned a automatic car (other than a Electric Citroén Saxo 1995 without gear so to say..) And when you take your licens, its a manual, you don't have the option to choose only automatic..

One more thing. As you can see, we prefer small cars here, (maybe as a nr. 2 car or just one with good MPG, because we have the biggest tax on cars in the world .. )

The dealer I got mine from said their manual trans sell out faster than the cvt, and that they've sold about an equal 50/50 amount, but only because they lack a lot full of manual transmissions, they have more cvt than manual as per Mitsubishi's push to their lot. dude said they tried to get more manual trans, but usually they end up getting the stick shift's from other dealers because mitsu can't deliver enough.....

Interestingly enough, when I was in the market for one, the dealer i went to listed 8 manual trans for sale, when i got there, literally only 1 on the lot, and i even looked around to see if he was lying. He said they sold 7 manual in a week, and only 3 cvt that same week. Interesting for sure.

I got a really, really good deal on my manual Mirage because the dealers apparently couldn't shift them. There were a bunch of mid-2014 build manual Mirages being sold off at big discounts at a few different dealers.

I also have the cvt model and I agree with MiMi about how you drive it makes all the difference. Before I got the mirage I had been a long time stick driver, and was leery of the cvt, having driven a chrisler product (Jeep) with it. What a horrible experience that was, any time you stepped on the gas going up a hill it would redline. When I was trying new cars last year I tested both the stick and cvt Mirage. What I didn't like about the stick was the long throws and the higher rpm in 5th gear. With my cvt mirage I can cruise on the highway at 100k and my rpm is about 1900. If I need to accelerate to pass there is plenty there when I need it. Now the fact that I am getting older, retirement age may have had some influence, but I find the cvt very capable.

    Interesting insight, thanks!

I suppose the high gas prices, small distances, good public transportation and mostly urban location explain why small cars top the list.

We had travel 500mi last saturday for event, and the oncoming vacation will be ~3,000mi in a week.

Out of the interesting facts: if Denmark was a US state, it would have been ranked #42, just above Maryland and below West Virginia by size. It is roughly 1/3 bigger than Maryland, and 1.5 times smaller than West Virginia.

Looks like Maryland would be a good comparison as it has slightly bigger population 6 vs 5.6mil

EDIT: that of cause excluding Greenland(!)
