I got told "...I am impressed"

Hey Guys & Gals.. I drove a couple colleagues up to training in Philly (about 30 min ride) I of course drove since now the gas doesn't bother me at all. I was going down the high way. I went to pass a 18 Wheeler. And of course i herd the 3 of them get a little uneasy. But my lil guy did it with a passion. I was going about 80-85 by than. Than all of a sudden a Volkswagen sales rep was like Holy Shi%$ I am impressed that this little car..., he couldn't believe my lil 1.2L could do what it did. They were defiently a little scared in the car. But than i informed them hey we got 7 air bags in this *****, it's like a big pillow if they go off than we all laughed.Figured i would share my story since you and I know that we get bashed for being in this car.

There is no I in team. But there is a PU in group and you guys stink.....

I've had no issues with passing power either. It's no problem to spool up 80-85 mph passing. Now on the other hand it's sprung way too soft for those speeds but that's another issue. You just can't be afraid to turn up some rpm's. Drop a gear on the manual or just stick your foot into it with the CVT and get those rpm's above 5000. The 3A92 is eager to rev.

been shifting past 6k rpm with no problems. you'd love the engine roar especially with a modified intake.

Thing is that because it is a 3cyl and you get 3 power strokes for every 2 turns instead of typical 4 of 4cyl, at 6k it sounds like 4.5k on 4, and you get fooled into thinking it is not working that hard.

What impressed me is the width of powerband this engine pulls from 1.2k all the way up to redline.

It's multi-valve small displacement engine that loves to rev with a timing chain. Mitsubishi builds a quality motor. Make it sing ! It sounds great when you get some rpm's rolling. I wouldn't be afraid to rev it up at all.

I've had a similar experience. I had 3 of my in laws with me in the Mirage to show the car to them. Even with the CVT and a full car I had no problem getting around. It was no rocket for sure, but not anywhere near 'dangerously slow' that some reviewers claim.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

These MIVEC's are supposed to be a High Rev engine. Thats how i sell them CVT or 5speed. that what i tell my customers. I mean it has a nice ping to it when it revving out. I do want a intake to make it sound a lil better. possibly a exhaust just for a lil more noise. But i know than MPGs are lower. Its a fun lil bugger for sure
