I posted this rebate info over on the Geo Metro Forum a couple days ago, where the Mirage has been a topic of hot discussion.

Since then, 4-5 people there have actually gone and pulled the trigger on new Mirages, and 3-4 more are headed to dealerships in the next couple days.

At around $10k, they practically sell themselves. If I had a place to store it, I might just go buy a spare manual DE.

Man this is tempting me to buy but financially I know shouldn't even do it even though this is a great time to buy a brand new Mirage. Reasons I will hold back all urges are:
    1. I actually prefer the 2017 model for its improvements
    2. I'm still paying off my i-MiEV
    3. I'm still paying off my student loan

For those that jump on this deal, congrats, I love seeing people come over to the Mirage side!

For anybody seriously ready to buy I recommend you to read the New Car Buyers Guide on this website:

    https://www.carbuyingtips.com/

THe advice is excellent and will get you the best price and a good strategy to avoid the sharks and the sleezebags that say "Come on DOwn" and "What do I gotta do to get your business today?"

    news is spreading

Looks like the news of the rebate is starting to get out:

-- VW Vortex forum (lots of discussion -- one of our members started the thread):
I guess the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirages are just about here ...

-- Active thread on Geo Metro Forum (more than a few forum members on both sites):
New Mitsubishi Mirage in the family!

It will be interesting to see the sales figures from the rebate period. Personally I think it was a good strategy to clear out the remaining inventory and some are getting great deals, around $1500 less than I paid for mine. It's kind of funny that Mitsu sold 41k Mirages (as of Jan 2016) in the US, after predicting 7k a year. I wonder how many they have left? Maybe they brought 50k into the states?

    regards
    mech

I too am curious as to what impact the rebate will have on these shores. So far, the car has gotten bad press. With an influx of satisfied buyers, I would expect the reputation to get a lift.

Also makes me wonder about the markup.

    We'll see.

    Yeah,

Its a bargain and WHAT A GREAT CAR!!! I absolutely love mine after only 3 days driving it.

Could not be happier, more than enough power and torque for the way I drive and its a fun game to try to squeeze out the highest possible mpg by using hypermilling techniques

I am at 43 mpg of 90% city driving (still on my first tank of gas since I bought the car)
