Mobil 1 0W20 "Extended Protection" and "Advanced Fuel Economy" differences?

What is the difference between Mobil 1 "Extended Protection" 0W20 and Mobil 1 "Advanced Fuel Economy" 0W20? These are the same price and weight but have a different designation. What does this mean? They are on the store shelf right next to each other and I will buy the one suggested here.

The advanced fuel economy gives a 2% increase in gas mileage

The extended protection one says you can run it for 15,000 miles before changing it

But running it for 15,000 miles would exceed the 7500 miles recommended by Mitsubishi and would void your warranty

So If I where you I would get the Advanced Fuel Economy brand and change it at 7500 miles or less

Same question I had when I was deciding between Advanced Fuel Economy and Extended Performance. Extended Performance is the better oil in every respect and is what I use exclusively now (I used to use AFE but made the switch).

EP has a larger % of Group IV synthetics composing it's base oil stock. AFE still has a nice amount, but definitely not as much as EP. Then there's also the difference between the 2 oils' additiive package with EP's focusing on getting you that longer oil change interval (among other things).

I never noticed a drop in Fuel Economy going from AFE to EP, it appeared to be exactly the same, though if it did proivde me with a 2% increase (I'm highly skeptical of this), this would have bee really hard to notice.

EP is Mobil1's top of the line oil and only costs a tiny bit more than AFE (at least in my stores), so it was a no brainer for me. Should you go the 15,000 miles before oil change? I'm not going to in my car, I'm just too paranoid.

OK, it looks like EP is the way to go, especially when they are both the same exact price (~$25) for a 5 quart jug at Wal-Mart. I don't plan to go beyond the requirement for the car but this sounds like the way to go since they cost the same. I had read a couple other things indicating this was a better oil and planned to go that route until I heard otherwise.

EP has higher total base number and larger % of anti-wear to protect longer

    We use A.F.E. 0w-20 in the '13 FIT . Usually go for average of 8,000 mile interval . There's a rebate for MOBIL oils . Go here , https://mobiloil.com/en/promotion/mo...nd-mobil-super , for details and rebate form . Called Mobil rebate center and Wal-Mart is included . Wal-Mart MOBIL 1 A.F.E. 0w-20 5 qt. jug is $25.47 -$12.00 ( rebate ) = $13.47 , making it $2.694 a qt.. BJs Wholesale has MOBIL 1 on sale starting the 10th of this month . They only have 6 qt. cases . $37.99 ( 6 qt. case ) - $10.00 ( instant discount )= $27.99 -$12.00 ( rebate ) = $15.99 for case . Thus , $2.665 a qt..

They obviously have different mileages in the states if you had to take the car for an oil change every 7500 miles in Germany then there would be uproar in the country, once a year or 20000 miles and that is to short.
