    There are indeed huge differences between LPG and CNG!

    LPG is liquified propane/butane, with a median pressure of around 5bar. It can be stored in doughnut-shaped tanks in the recess for the spare tyre. A typical tank may weigh about 5kg and can easily be lifted by a child. Conversion is easy, trouble-free and cheap, of course only if your car has hardened valve seats and valves. One tank of LPG will get you about as far as a tank of petrol. LPG is generally worry-free, of course only with hardened valve seats and valves.

    CNG is altogether different. It is methane under extreme pressure. The tank(s) are cylinder tanks, much like a cylinder of welding-gas. The CNG cylinders are made with very thick steel walls, and are very, very heavy. Too heavy for any person to lift alone. A filling of CNG will only get you about one third as far as a tank of petrol. Conversion is much more expensive than for LPG. As CNG burns hotter than petrol, just like LPG, your car needs hardened valve seats and valves if you want it to last.

    Both LPG and CNG burn virtually soot-free, the exhaust-pipe remains completely soot free, and engine oil stays the same colour almost for ever, but it still needs changing because the additives get degraded or lost in time. Both LPG and CNG converted cars are just as safe as petrol versions.
    It only makes economical sense to convert a car, if the valves are of the quality that can withstand the higher temperatures!
    The standard sparkplugs of a converted car usually should be replaced with the same plugs, but one size colder. Example RN9 instead of RN8. This is to prevent glow-ignition (knocking) occuring from overheated sparkplugs. Both CNG and LPG are equivant to octane ratings way above 100 octane.


    Please note:

    Beware of those, who are readily willing to convert any car to LPG, that has been blacklisted for LPG by almost all other conversion-kit manufacturers!!!
