    Radiator replacement adventure (split, leaking)

So I have a 2014 manual mirage. I've had a slow radiator leak for about a month. It was very slow so I was in no hurry to fix it. Well I finally pulled the trigger to buy a radiator but no one but Mitsubishi is selling the manual radiator (for a cheap 350 dollars) so I thought I'll just get an auto trans one aftermarket. It shouldn't be very different except for the oil cooler lines which I should just be able to ignore. Well fun fact. The auto trans has the coolant running into the transfer Instead of the oil through the cooler. So guess what if you want to run an auto trans radiator (it'd wider BTW and fits right in) you would have to run a loop from the bottom to the top of the radiator and it's a decent sized hose. I guess you could just block it off but that seems harider than just running a hose. So to make a long story short I'm not gonna run the auto radiator so if anyone local wants to pick it up off me for 50 bucks they can have it. Now let's recap.
    Auto radiator is wider
Will slide right in on either trans car
You will have to either block off both outlets for the trans or loop themy into each other.
I wasted an hour of my time and about half a gallon of coolant and water.

With all that being said it was very easy. The front support unbolts and comes right out. No need to remove the hood release either. When I do this the next time I will take pictures and start a diy. Thanks for your time reading this. I hope you enjoyed my suffering.

$350 for that radiator? That's about $100 per pound...LOL. Was it not covered under the warranty?!?

If the leak is due debris then no.

It was at the seal between the metal fingers and the plastic I was mistaken before.

Did you run this by Mitsubishi to see if it is covered under the Powertrain Warranty? Hard to have a functioning powertrain without a radiator, eh?

Yeah it's not covered according to the dealer.

Bummer. So you have 94k, eh? Have you seen any other problems for us to look forward to? Anything else gone haywire or failed?

I checked Carpart.com, and there is a used manual radiator ten miles from me for a 'cheap' $175.

I wonder if a radiator shop could repair this for you. There's lots of good shops out there.

I am sure if you could find a radiator shop they could fix it. But radiator shops, at least where I am, aren't as easy to find anymore. The plastic-and-aluminum jobs used in cars nowadays are practically disposable, unlike the solid brass ones from yesteryear.
