3d printing floor vents / ducts with dampers

While my dash is ripped apart due to a heater core issue I've had. I wanted to work on this project. I wanted to do this last winter when I got the car because my wife is one of those people who is always cold and that means when we drive together I am typically pretty warm. However, I didn't get to it. So, now is the perfect time. The solution is pretty easy, I wanted to 3d print some new ducting that has a damper in it so you can turn off the air flow to that vent. Almost every other vent in the car has this feature, why not the floor vents?

So, I removed the floor vent pieces during my dash tear down. Here are the 3 pieces we're looking to replace.

    Driver's side vent.

So, these are the three pieces I'll be looking to recreate with a damper inserted into them. Right now, I am thinking of some way of manually actuating the damper. It'll click or pop into an open or closed position to keep things easy. I hope to try to make it somewhat easy to reach.

Neat. My "damper" would probably be a rag stuffed into the openings.

Haha, yeah that would probably be the easy way to go.

Progress on this has been slow but progressing nicely. I've printed a few test pieces for fitment adjustment. I'm printing them in PETG. Its a semi flexible material and can be printed pretty thin like the OEM pieces. I should have taken some pictures. I'll get some next time.

Some of those heater ducts are paper thin.

So are these essentially going to be 'caps' for the rear ducts?

I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing for the rear vents yet. I'd like to have some form of adjustment that the driver can make without having to dig under the seats if that is possible.
