Indeed, a 10 MPG loss for every 20 km/h increase.
A 6th gear would probably help highway fuel economy.

Traffic here is so heavy on the Interstate, I just stay in the right lane behind a truck. I forgot to refill from my 16.5 gallons in the garage, so it was 417 miles when the whole gauge started flashing.
417 miles, 7.307 gallons@ $1.849 per gallon. It was $1.349 in January, pretty sure it's now summer blend.
57.1 mpg
regards

I'm kinda pissed. My second tank ended up at 4.56 l/100km (51.6 MPG) but that had a highway trip that killed my mileage since I was travelling at high speeds (documented a few weeks ago). The MID reported 4.4 l/100km (53.5 MPG) for the tank... fairly close.
For my third tank, I thought I did great. Several times my trip average was 3.7 to 3.9 l/100km (63.6 - 60.3 MPG). I don't remember ending a day higher than 4.3 (54.7), most days were 4.0 or 4.1 l/100km (58.8 - 57.4).
The MID for the tank reported 4.2 (56.0). After entering my fuel info, I ended up at 4.57 l/100km (51.5 MPG)!!! WTF, that's higher than my last tank which I expected to be crappy. The MID improvement matches what I was seeing daily. I'm really kind of upset, I was expecting a significant improvement from my last tank.

Did you fill up the tank completely on flat ground?
The board computer results fit nearly perfect in my Space Star. The maximum deviation is 0.1 l/100 km - too low in the winter, too high in the summer (39 tanks so far).
I think, the board computer result should be significantly higher than your calculations for this tank. Otherwise I would not tank the car at this gas station again, since I trust the board computer more...

I guess. I feel really deflated (that reminds me I should check my tire pressure). I enjoy driving because it gave me a chance to try for even better fuel economy. The other day I offered to drop my wife off at the next town over. It's a 37 km (23 mi) round trip. I hit 3.7 l/100km (63.6 MPG) for the trip. After several more trips throughout the day and some traffic, I ended the day at 4.0 l/100km (58.8).
The only explanation is that my last fill was not a complete fill. The gas nozzle must have cut out early. That would mean worse fuel economy for my last tank, but better for this tank. If that's the case, it should work itself out after a few more fills.

Just filled up for the 6th time.
My fourth tank finally matched - 4.6 MID (51 MPG) vs. 4.6 Actual (51 MPG). I expected a poor average due to lots of highway driving at 120 kph with AC on.
My fifth tank did not match. The MID showed 4.2 L/100km (56MPG), but actual was 4.6 L/100km (51 MPG) - again!!! It seemed like it didn't matter what the MID showed, I ended up at 4.6 L/100km (51 MPG) either way. I was kinda pissed off.
Well, finally my hard work paid off. For my 6th tank the MID showed 3.9 L/100km (60MPG) and my actual was also 3.9 L/100km. Uhhhhh, finally!
I am very happy with 3.9 L/100km (60MPG). It puts my old 2008 Yaris (1.5L 4cyl 5M) to shame
...though it still can't match my Honda CBR which hit 2.1 L/100km (112MPG) last tank.

GRRRRRRRRRR
7th tank, MID showed 3.9 L/100km. I was really hoping to hit 3.8. My last few trips ended up at 3.6 to 3.7, but it wouldn't budge.
Just filled it up and actual was 4.32!!! Dagnabit!!! I'm so sick of the MID being off. I don't understand how it could possibly be 4.3. That would mean my trip averages were 4.3, meaning I had trips that were over 4.3. Not once was my trip average over 4.3. Heck, I don't think I ever ended up over 4.1. Something isn't adding up and and it's making me mad.
