    A proper sun visor mod....

Many of you have probably already noticed the stock sun visor is deficient when the sun
is low and angled though the side window, most common during the winter for me.

So after looking through the stores for clip on style of tinted sun visors I found this.....
    http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/ty...l#.VwRej0dJnVh
the canadian tire cat # is 37-5046-6 and will give you a similar product with better clips as you will see.

Like a GM ignition lock cylinder the item is different but the part number hasn't changed.....
The mfgr is "Winplus" part # ss13093f-6 "type S"

The first thing is to remove the holy sh*t handle as I call it but others may call it an assist grip...

The clip is a 2 piece deal as shown here, the metal bit holds them together.

An awl is used to remove them,

Now a new hole has to drilled to match the mount from the removal of the assist handle, I measured it at 6 1/3 inches but you will want to measure it yourself I'm sure....

once the new hole is made in the visor the clip can be moved to it, the nut & bolt makes this easy.

measure the positions of the holes to be drilled in the plastic clip half carefully or else you will have to buy a new visor....this is the end result, I only bought one visor by the way

here is the visor in the stowed position, not too shabby....

    Now bring on the sun.....
PS: I may make this totally opaque if the tint alone doesn't reduce the squint factor.....

I had the chance to try it out.
Works well but I find the tint isn't dark enough so will be applying
    some self adhesive opaque film.
Then my car will be perfect.......

Great DIY write up. I've added it to the mods list.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100
