I cut open a few oil filters today

Just did another eneos sustina 0w20 xg7317 oil change at 6800 miles (going to be driving over 600 this weekend and wanted it ready)

Decided to cut open some old filters

    Wix

    Mobile 1 m1-110

    Fram ultra xg7317

The wix only has 3400 miles on it though, other two have 7k

Looks like the WIX and Mobil 1 have a lot more filter media in them than the Fram.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

Good choice! Ultras have the best filtering capacityof 32g and best efficiency 99.6% at 20u and 80% at 5u.

Wix and ChampionLab products may have more media, but it isn't that good.

For the price the mobile 1 m1-110 and the Fram ultra XG7317 are excellent choices. The Mobil 1 can be purchased for $9 from Amazon, the Fram ultra can be purchased from Walmart for $9. The royal purple filters just as good and is top notch but is also $13 off amazon and I can't justify the $4 for just extra flow rate specs in a 74hp engine.

The Fram tough guard, standard should be avoided. Only the ultra.

The wix is decent for $6 if your looking for a lower cost filter. The purolator had a few bad reviews. I'll buy a few cheap filters and cut them open and read specs to see what the best cheap filter is. For now I think the wix is the best cheap filter.

Yes it appears that is the case but the test results show it to be very good. Not always the amount of media rather than the quality and composition of the media. I'll cut apart some new ones soon.

The forums on BITOG praise Wix alot. That's why I run one. They're also one of the more expensive ones from what I've seen up here.

Not anymore. They used to prize PureOne too, times changed.
