Damn. So in order to really maximize the effect of mucking about with the tranny swapping out gearsets should be done.

Either way, this is super interesting. I'd be excited to try it out if a gearset could be had for $400 or less.

    Agreed.

Next day im free I will go too a dealership and ask at the parts department.

My "internal transmission work" experience is limited to minor surgery on an old 4 speed. What im saying is, someone with transmission experience might be about too buy i really awesome jigsaw puzzle if im actually able too get my hands on the gearset. Lol.

Anyone have any possible way too confirm the 4a9x motor wool bolt too the 3a9x transmission and visa-verse? My local pull-a-part doesn't have any mirages, or ide go see what i could come up with.. Including disassembling someone elses mirage transmission. Haha

4A92 & 3A92 should have the same bellhousing. So any 4a9x series transmission should be a bolt on. CV shafts might be another matter.

dealership was a dead end. when i asked, it was met with odd looks and disapproval. i was told that they (dealership) could not view breakdowns of the transmission, and for surely not the uk version lol.

i think i was brushed off, honestly, because someone here has a transmission schematic.

i did find a "mechanics guide" i will find and link

larger tires will help your right but everything will then be inaccurate.

anyone know how or if it's possible to calibrate the speedometer?

I thought it is possible with ETAC twicks.

Keep trying until the right dealership is found - one who *gets* enthusiasts.

Thanks so much for the link. Mind if I ask where you got it?
