I think we replaced the clutch at 35 or 40 k miles. There are many variables using a mirage in relation to say a Ford crown Vic as a taxi. The driver will try to get the same performance from the mirage as the crown Vic this results in some what shale we say Excesive ware $ tare . I will post some pics we have been very busy offering help to Orlando victims families ( very sad ) doing what we can to help out those families.

Wow I believe the clutch is from poor usage. I run mountains and downshift, lots of stop and go and I have close to 55k miles original clutch with only two small adjustments.

you guys need to remember 40k miles in town, most likely downtown traffic, where theres 10, 20, 30 clutch applications per block is significantly different than hopping on the freeway and going 500 miles with 5 shifts lol

That may be, but also the attitude. I've gotten 300k out of the clutches commuting in heavy traffic, and people managed to burn the clutch in 20k on similar car. IMHO life of the clutch on Mirage will depend on user, and timely done adjustments; if it is slipping and not taken care of,it will burn in no time.

Thanks for doing this - it must be difficult. Is there anything we can do to help?

Did you check tire adjustment regularly or just waited for clutch to burn?

How expensive was to replace it?

Thank you eggman, for the offer to help, we are doing what we can giving rides to family of the victims. Del food etc. As for the clutch it seem to just start to slip and it smelled like wet dog and feet so it had to be changed . It cost about $1400
