I'm actually thinking now seriously about dropping down to 13" rims due to price of tires. 13x5.5 rims and there is a fair amount of tire availability with some excellent prices.

I was also looking at 14" options, but the wheels would be more expensive and the only performance tire is the BF Goodrich Super Sport AS.

they make the dunlops in 14" size. they apparently are an extremely grippy tire. noticed a lot of dirrezzas at the auto-x i attended. they are 200treadwear.

how wide of a rim are you trying too fit?

Took a look at those, they're Extreme Performance Summer, which sacrifices wet for more dry grip. I'm not looking for something that hardcore.

I'm looking for lightweight wheels, either 6" or 6.5" wide. Found a 14" option that's as light as the VX wheels, though. Kosei K1 TS.

    your right.

9lbs a rim is stupid light. wow!

personally i think your best off keeping the vx wheels! they are much cooler than anything you'll buy. i suppose i may be partial, because your car pretty much sold me on my wheel purchase.

if your dead set, might want too eye up what the early miatas are doing. they have the same goals, just for different reasons.
