Quaife LSD? (Any interest in limited slip differential group buy?)

So I was wondering who was interested in an LSD for our cars? Quaife is willing to make them for us for normal cost if 10+ people are dedicated to the cause. I'll buy the differential to send to them for their spec'ing out and the productions units will cost ~$1000-1500 each. So about average price for a Quaife LSD, 1.5-way of course. Get back at me and I could even give my contact the site and thread info if there's enough interest. This would make a big push for our car into the mainstream aftermarket, and give the Mirage the jump on competitors if people see that there are traction solutions out there.

I have some dumb questions - I assume the LSD is Limited Slip Differential.

Is the advantage of this for traction in snow/slippery conditions, or is it meant as a performance part for hard acceleration on dry pavement? If the later - can the Mirage actually burn-out?

Yes, LSD is limited slip in this case. Not the drug.

An LSD is meant for traction in any and all conditions. Resisting the power unloading through one wheel makes the car more predictable and controllable in all conditions because it resists sudden traction loss from excessive wheel spin. Even when the wheels break loose, the LSD allows a gain in control over one wheel breaking out since you can still use the throttle to control the car.

LSDs are essential to any 2WD platform competing in gravel or snow rallies for instance. And yes, on ZIIs I can keep one wheel going nuts if I wanted. 74hp at the motor can still do wonders once you manage to get the wheel to hop under sudden torque loading (popping the clutch).

Mad skids. So I priced the stock diff out. $870CAD which I will pay plus shipping to Quaife as sacrifice to the cause if we get enough people confirmed on this. Come one people, we can make this happen. Plus it's cheaper that we all do it now and get the price down to normal (and make it something Quaife may standardize as product) and have availability to sooner rather than someone trying it down the road and paying $3-5K for a one-off unit. At least that's what they quoted me when I asked for a one-off.

    So far:

    - RalliArt_Mirage
    - Ares

Also, good thing to know that I'm not the only one tracking this thing.

Half a year, eh? Hey Ares, would you still be down if it came down to waiting till next year?

By the way, I forgot to mention that it'll take about 3-4 months for them to complete the units. Payment plans might be possible, so I'll ask.
