It's not THAT much heavier...even with all the Rockford Fosgate stuff in it (I assume that's what you have since you said it has an upgraded stereo).
Any chance you're using the AC more in the new one? Hey...just grasping at possibilities here.

I think the difference between the ES and DE was something along the lines of 20-25 pounds. So it would not make much of a difference at all. But the Rockford is not an ES...it is it's own trim level between the DE and ES.
As was suggested, make sure your tires are properly inflated and have the rear alignment checked. Although I think the alignment was less of a problem by late 2015 when the Rockfords started hitting the lots?

Have dealership to check alignment. Having it off will eat into MPG

Things that seem to decrease gas milage on my Mirage:
Cold weather, CVT revs higher til it warms up.
Dealer flashed new program into engine computer, lowered the milage a little.
Alcohol in the gas, winter mix knocks it down a little (7-8%).
I am guessing some dealers are mixing E85 with their gas and the mix will drop the mileage about 10mpg. I've gotten this at both no-name and brand name stations along the highway.
And stuff already covered in other messages.

This seems like a dealership problem it should be under warranty and they need to make it right. I would suggest taking to dealer and complain. My ES 2014 gets 45/50 but I live in flat part of the country no mountains so easy to keep eco light on.
im lucky if i get over 32 mpg unless im really trying, if its all city driving i get more in the range of 26 to 28. i dont have the low rolling resitance tires and i dont max inflate i keep them at 35 like the car suggests.
