How much can the mirage actually haul?

I own the CVT mirage and I'm looking to buy a seadoo sportster and was curious of how much weight can the mirage pull?

The dry weight of the Seadoo Sportster is listed at 1454 lbs with out trailer. This is way outside the Mirage's capability, especially with the CVT. The Mirage is rated to tow 0 (zero) pounds. A few members with manual transmissions have towed very small light weight trailers <600 lbs total weight. With the CVT, don't go there at all. The car isn't designed to tow anything and as softly sprung as the Mirage the safest and sanest statement is just don't let the thought enter into your dome.

This thread made me giggle just a bit. Your car is for fuel economy. Trade it in if you want to tow. That boat is 500 lbs. short of the total weight of the car, and 1500 lbs. over what it's rated to tow. It's something else entirely if you want to tow something extremely light every so often, but this would be ridiculous at its best.

I've put upwards of 1000 pounds of tools and parts in my mirage not including myself but mines a manual and I can say it had enough power but the cvt isn't as strong. If you're only on level ground it might not be an issue but hills would worry me. That being said I plan on dragging around a 1500 pound trailer with mine but again the manual trans will hold up better though the clutch might not I'll find out for myself.

I gotta say Joe Z it appears that your use of a Mirage is beyond what it was intended to do.

I think you would be better off with another, more substantial car.

Just curious when you see how much something weighs that you're going to tow do you use the dry weight or the hitch way? I'm pretty sure I already know the answer but

I've pulled 2 Chevys, a Spark (out of fuel) and a Cobalt (charging system failure) for short distances with my '14 manual and it did not complain. I've mounted a trailer hitch but haven't tried pulling a trailer with it yet. I wouldn't recommend pulling 3000lbs with a mirage, but it is possible. (2400 uphill, with the stranded rental Spark)

I think this member is clearly the undisputed Mirage towing champion..

    I towed a 2000 pound car 1500 miles with a 5-speed Mirage

His mirage (white) looks lowered. Does not look too bad.
