    Lightbulb Battery Longevity

Just curious, is it ok if we can put a thread of how long does your OEM battery last before it was replaced?

Mine is the OEM type 1sm but not sure what brand and if its the same in other countries. But still working and the last time it was checked around Aug it still has 50%.

So hopefully everyone that had already replaced theirs can share how long their battery lasts.

    Its absolutely okay.

As far as I know, Alex16 is the only one who has mentioned replacing his battery already. As a general rule of thumb, you should get about 5 years out of a automotive battery.

High temperatures and lots of charge/discharge cycles can significantly shorten the useful life of a lead-acid battery.

The dealer tested my OEM Hitachi battery to be at about 60% at 26 months after date of manufacture.

These batteries appear to be the kind where you can add water which I like. You can unscrew the caps so I need to check mine and add if needed.

Mitsumi, in the Philippines car batteries do not last that long. A battery that last for 2.5 years is a good one. It is because of the humidity. In the US or Canada, it would last quite a longer time - around 4 years or 5 years.

my car is 6 months old and I replaced the battery with an optima yellow top. It jumps to life much faster especially when start and stop is engaged. A 7 year old yellow top delivers 200 amps more than the stock battery and the new one I installed yesterday measures 1140 cca while the stock arround 550 on the same equipment.

My Mirage is 2.5 years old now since I bought it, and it's still on the original battery. I keep it topped up with distilled water, and I recently tested it to have 380 CCA. The manual states that it's a 356 CCA battery.
