so.. in mailaysia where there is now the CVT start motor problem... those do not have the start /stop function?

and maybe because of that we here in the EU have a larger start motor and other modifications so we dont have that problem?

I wonder if you turn off the heat/defrost at stops if that would make it stop.

Also, any Euro owners willing to film a short video showing this feature in action? With audio?

Bumping this thread hoping for some feedback from those who have it.

I was in a car that had this auto stop/start and thought it was pretty clever. I've been doing it in my pushbutton start ES if I know I'll be stopped for a while. I dislike having the dome light come on, so I turned that off. I also dislike the radio turning off when I shut off the engine - that is, when I am using it.

Also, it would be cool to have the regenerative braking, and the bigger starter. The alternator and the starter might just be a part number search away...

The UK cars have it and it works very well indeed. What makes it good is there's a whole heap of conditions that mean it *wont* trigger, even when armed. For example - if the coolant is too cold, the ambient temp is too low, you've pressed the brake pedal twice in a certain period of time (say 30 secs), if you've not gone above ~5mph, if you've got a lot of electrical drain on, not enough pressure on the brake pedal, etc. etc.

When it does kick, it seems to wait to a point in the engine's cycle before killing the ignition so that when it restarts it does so on a single compression - no churning on the starter.

The only thing I don't like is that to make the system engage, one has to have a foot on the brake pedal - and therefore if you're in a tailback, the person behind you is treated to your brake lights all the time; you can't engage the handbrake and step off the service brakes.
